Niagara Street Bridge Rehabilitation/Replacement ReportLocation: Glendale Avenue over the Welland Canal, St. Catharines, ON
Client: Regional Municipality of Niagara ELLIS Engineering Inc. was retained by the Regional Municipality of Niagara to complete a load capacity evaluation (LCE) and rehabilitation/replacement analysis (RRA) of Niagara Street Bridge, over the Welland River, in Welland, Ontario. The structure was built circa 1931 and reconstructed in 1973. A detailed bridge condition survey (C/S) was completed in 2011 by Golder Associates. The LCE determined that the CPCI girders have sufficient capacity; however, the RRA and net present value analysis indicated that a complete structure replacement would be more economically favourable in 1 to 5 years. |
