Client: St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation ELLIS Engineering Inc. (ELLIS) was retained by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation to complete a structural analysis, modelling, and load evaluation for this structural steel vertical lift bridge in accordance with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC CSA S6:19). ELLIS completed a supplemental site inspection, including drone inspection; modelled the structure in finite element software; determined the load carrying capacity of the structure; and prepared a detailed report, including recommendations for the maintenance of the structure to maximize service life. |

ELLIS completed a supplemental site inspection, including drone inspection; modelled the structure in finite element software; determined the load carrying capacity of the structure; and prepared a detailed report, including recommendations for rehabilitation and maintenance of the structure to maximize service life. |
Bridge No. 1 Movable and Fixed Span Bridges Structural ModificationsLocation: Lakeshore Road and Lock No. 1, Welland Canal, St. Catharines
Client: St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation ELLIS Engineering Inc. (ELLIS) was retained by Martin Engineering Inc. in 1995 to complete a feasibility study and design alternates report for the elimination of the rail track right-of-way on both the fixed and bascule spans that carry Lakeshore Road over Lock 1. ELLIS also completed a condition survey, load test analysis and a structural evaluation report for the fixed span widening in 1996. Finally, ELLIS designed, prepared drawings, and prepared technical specifications for the Lock 1 Rolling Bascule Bridge structural steel modifications and widening (1999) and the deck modifications and roadway widening of the fixed span bridge (2005). |
